I know first-hand how it feels to have a family, run a household,
schedule multiple sports games in a weekend . . . all while having to
manage health issues, careers and most importantly family dinners and
the elusive picky eater.  These daily challenges can feel like enormous
obstacles in the path of our own health and well-being, much less our
    entire family.

Finding the time to cook healthy foods, figuring out how to get your
children to start eating vegetables or wondering how you are going to
fit exercise into the day can feel too overwhelming and it becomes all
too easy to slip back into old habits.  But family members can be highly
influential on each other and when one begins to make positive
changes, others are likely to follow.

With mindfulness and awareness comes new habits and new ways of
looking at how we live our lives.  My beliefs surrounding food and
    nutrition are simple and clear:

  • All diets are not created equal; what works for one person or
family might not work for another.  We all come with different
traditions, cultures, habits and preferences surrounding food.

  • Nourishing yourself can mean more than eating food.  Good family
relationships , friends, exercise and simply knowing when to slow
down and take care of yourself are all good examples of
    nourishment.

  • Eating as holistically and locally as possible is not only good for
ourselves, it tastes better, feels better and is good for the planet.

"It is my sincere belief that good
eating habits begin in the home.
The variety of foods you choose to
nourish yourself or your family with
could have an impact that lasts a
lifetime. From pregnancy through
adulthood, what you and your
children eat is one of the most
important factors in determining
how you feel physically, mentally
and emotionally."
Creativity is key when it comes to inspiring fresh new
ideas and habits.  Like the range of choices a painter
may have, Green Palette symbolizes the many different
choices and variety of foods, habits and lifestyle
options we have at our disposal everyday.
"When I was President of the Welcome Club of Fairfield/Easton, Heather
Carey was our cooking instructor for two years.  Her cooking and teaching
skills were not only amazing, her patience and the time she took to
answer students' questions was excellent.  She was able to easily
translate complicated nutrition information into easy to understand words.
Everyone needs a Heather Carey in planning nutritional meals for family
and friends."
